How SumnuIQ scoring works

A plain description of the quizzes as they actually run, including the limits.

SumnuIQ is a set of timed quizzes. The number you see at the end is a summary of the items you just answered. It is not a clinical IQ, a school placement score, or a ranking of the general public. This page describes the version of the site that was live when the page was written, so the mechanics below match the test code rather than a brochure.

What happens when you start the IQ test

The IQ test keeps a bank of questions in ten domains: logic, pattern recognition, math, verbal comprehension, short-term memory, spatial reasoning, problem solving, emotional judgment, creativity, and decision-making. A session does not climb or drop in difficulty based on your last answer. It takes three questions from each domain, thirty in all, shuffles the order, and shuffles the answer choices. You get a balanced sample, newly mixed, every time. That is useful for a short game. It is not a computerized adaptive test of the kind used in some professional exams, and older copy on this site that said the questions get harder or easier after each answer was ahead of the product. This page replaces that claim.

Every IQ item has a twenty-second clock. If the clock runs out, the item is marked wrong and the explanation still appears. Leaving the browser tab is counted. Three tab switches flag the session. A flagged session can still show you a result, and it is left off the leaderboard. Anonymous names are left off the leaderboard as well. The board itself is not a global ranking. It starts with a short sample list shipped with the page, then adds names from the current browser session.

How the profile number is built

Each domain becomes a percent correct. Those ten percents are combined with fixed weights: logic 15, pattern recognition 15, problem solving 12, math 10, verbal 10, creativity 10, memory 8, spatial 8, emotional judgment 7, and decision-making 5. The weighted percent is then stretched onto a 70–160 scale. All correct lands at 160. None correct lands at 70. A mixed paper lands in between. We call that number an Intelligence Profile Score so it is not confused with a deviation IQ from a normed battery.

The line under the number — “Top 5%,” “Top 50%,” “Below average,” and the rest — is a fixed label for a band on that 70–160 scale. It is not computed from the people who have taken SumnuIQ, and it is not a percentile from a representative population. Treat it as a nickname for the band, the same way the badge is a nickname. Badges are chosen by simple rules on your category percents and the overall number. The first matching rule wins, and a catch-all badge covers everyone else. The “intelligence type” names the two domains where your percents were highest. It is a description of this sitting, not a personality type with a research literature behind it.

The other six tests

Human Body, Verbal, Financial, Logical Reasoning, and Leadership each draw a set of thirty questions across their own categories, with weights that sum to a 0–100 score. Detective uses twenty-five cases. The clocks differ: about fifteen seconds on Body, twenty-five on Verbal, Financial, and Leadership, thirty on Logical Reasoning, and forty-five on Detective. A level name such as “Body Scholar” or “Financial Genius” is a playful label for a percentage band. It is not a job title, a license, or proof that you think like a specialist. Read the guide for that test before you quote the label anywhere that matters.

What a high or low score does not mean

A high profile number means you did well on this shuffled set, under a clock, on the day you took it. It does not measure creativity in your actual work, kindness, job skill, or health. A low number means those items, on that clock, did not go well. Sleep, language, a noisy room, and unfamiliar question styles all move the score. Three items per domain is a thin sample. Miss one trick question and that domain’s percent drops hard. Retaking the test will mix a new draw from the same bank, so some of the gain on a second try is familiarity, not a change in ability.

Nothing here is medical, psychological, financial, or employment advice. The financial quiz can teach vocabulary such as interest, diversification, and a common scam pattern. It cannot tell you what to do with your savings. The leadership quiz asks what you think a good response is. It does not watch you lead anyone.

A fair way to practice

Use the explanation that appears after each item. Write down the idea, not the answer letter. The letters move because the choices are shuffled. Then leave the test alone for a few days and study the matching guide, which has a two-week plan that uses other materials: news puzzles, a body-systems sketch, a household budget on paper. Come back when you want another sample, not when you have memorized the bank.

Accounts are optional. The test runs without one. Signing in stores scores in the browser dashboard so you can look back. Sharing posts a card with the name you typed, the number, and the badge. Do not present that card as a certified score. If a friend wants a real clinical assessment, a licensed psychologist is the right next step, and this site is not a referral service.

Questions we hear

Is it free? Yes. The tests, results, and guides are free to use. The page may load an advertising script, and ad units are not switched on as part of the writing you are reading.

How long does it take? Most people finish a test in eight to twelve minutes. Detective runs a little longer because the cases are short stories.

Can I improve the number? You can get more of these items right by learning the ideas and by getting used to the clock. That is practice. It is not evidence that a clinical IQ moved.
